The curiosity with
the culture and the way people live in Latin America is at the root
of the origin of Veloso Tours. From the moment Paulo Veloso first set
foot in Ecuador in 1986 he was fascinated by the people, the markets,
the landscapes and the close historic link between Latin America and
Europe. It once dawned on us that the Americas are an expanded version
of the western tip of Europe with Britain in the North (USA & Canada),
Portugal in the South (Brasil) and Spain in the Centre and South with
France dotted along in a few places (Montreal, Martinique, etc). This
conveys the visitor a feeling of being at home, yet the sense of space
is enormous compared with Europe and the cultural identity is similar
but at the same time, very different.
Having travelling
extensively throughout Latin America on work assignments from 1986 to
1998 as the Director of a Tour Operator, Paulo Veloso decided that it
was time to start a new company that would help to expand the growing
interest in Latin American and focus on showing the way people live
locally and their environment.
Our knowledge of
Latin America is coupled with the best practice Corporate Governance
of Veloso Tours where expert first hand knowledge, attention to detail,
personal service and value for money being paramount. Our extensive
use of technology and the development of our own reservations and administration
software, Axum Systems enables us to free time from laborious, repetitive
task so as to concentrate on customer interest and service.
We are a people
business with a paramount emphasis on our team of experts in London
as a link between our customers and our team of first class guides who
look after our clients face to face.
In consultation
with our clients, we have developed a program of Individual Tours shown
in our portfolio of itineraries presented in our brochure and website,
and we design special tailormade itineraries for clients in conversation
with one of our destination experts. We also offer Small Group Tours
accompanied from start to finish by one of our Guide Lecturers who is
the Tour leader for a group of likeminded individuals traveling together
for companionship but with the freedom to have time on their own if
they so wish.
